The Garden of the Gods, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is a park containing a variety of magnificent geological formations. The park's geological features include massive beds of sedimentary and metamorphous rock initially deposited by the sea and subsequently tilted vertically by the uplift of nearby Pikes Peak. The park's land was donated to the city of Colorado Springs in 1909 by the children of Charles Elliott Perkins, whose wish was for the park to be free and open for the enjoyment of the public. |
